Basic starter info on survival prep
Can anyone recommend a good starting place for a survival prep newb to learn what kinds of foods, gear, and other supplies are useful to stock up on, and how to calculate what quantities of each to put away for any arbitrary number of people over some target period of time?
It would be nice to find information that covers how to package and store foods, what kinds of mills and purifiers and fuel sources exist and what the tradeoffs are between the various types. Information on how to kill, gut, pluck, and prepare a live chicken or other domesticated animals and game would be useful too. This part of the forum has a lot of information, but there's no really good beginning survivalists guide that pulls it all together. A lot of things I can figure out on my own, but I might miss important details without some help. I'd like to start putting away some food and equipment that will come in handy when TSHTF, but there is just a lot of things I don't know, and I'd rather not waste a lot of time and money doing the wrong things. |
